Hello there, fellow caregiver.

Perhaps you, like us, have found yourself in a caregiving role with a loved one who has dementia. Perhaps you, unlike us, feel totally confident, equipped, resourced, organized, well-rested, and worry-free, and, therefore, have no need for additional support…

hehehe…

It’s clear that we as caregivers have many, many needs, spanning everything from planning meals to planning for the afterlife. Most of us also have jobs outside the house and/or this caregiving role, and many of us are also caring for children of our own! Whatever your care situation, however long you’ve been doing this, whatever your identity and your income, surely we all can benefit if we band together.

We want to cultivate a dementia caregiver community, which extends beyond the big annual event and its giant philanthropic host (wonderful as they may be). Beyond random facebook groups with people from all over the country. Beyond our families, who may or may not be helpful in the ways we need.

Careist is a membership community in Minnesota. Extending beyond one singular support group, we are building something that connects us all across the metro and across the state, where we members can make local connections and find local answers. We can crowdsource reviews of doctors, agencies, day clubs, and more. We can share ideas for local activities, assistive technologies, and strategies for everyday struggles. Heck, we can even get together in real life! Caregive together! Carpool? Advocate for more supportive caregiver infrastructure in our state? Dance together?

We invite you to join us, as we create the community we need and deserve–for our wellbeing and the wellbeing of our loved ones.
